Intentional Microdosing FAQs
-
Intentional microdosing is the practice of working with very small, sub-perceptual doses of psychedelic medicines, most commonly psilocybin or LSD, within a thoughtful and purposeful framework. While many Indigenous cultures have long-standing ceremonial relationships with plant medicines, modern microdosing is a distinct practice and should not be confused with those sacred traditions.
For me, the emphasis is on intentional. Rather than simply taking a substance and hoping for change, there is some structure around the experience. We begin with an intention, develop a dosing rhythm that makes sense for you, and create space along the way to notice what is shifting and what might need more attention. The medicine is one part of a broader process of self-inquiry and change.
My role is to help you develop a practice that feels supportive and sustainable in your actual life. There is a framework to guide us, but it isn't rigid or one-size-fits-all. We pay attention to what emerges through the process and allow the practice to evolve with you, while finding ways to bring what you're learning into your everyday life.

I offer this work because I've experienced firsthand how meaningful psychedelic medicines can be when they're approached with intention and given the right support around them.
I've also seen how often people are left to figure out microdosing on their own, trying to make sense of conflicting information online without much guidance for how to actually work with the experience. I believe people deserve more support than that.
Microdosing isn't a magic solution, and it isn't the right path for everyone. But I do believe it can be a meaningful catalyst for change when it's approached with care and a willingness to engage with what comes up. My hope is to offer the kind of grounded, supportive space that helps people feel informed in their choices and more connected to what they're learning about themselves along the way.

Because microdosing can support us in working with unresolved experiences and patterns held in the body, the changes people notice can extend far beyond any one symptom. Here are some of the most common places people experience support:
Emotional Wellbeing: anxiety, depression, ADHD, fear, grief, shame, guilt, trauma, C-PTSD, PMDD, menopause transitions
Addiction & Habits: cravings, compulsive behaviours, unhealthy coping patterns
Somatic Healing & Health: body awareness, stress relief, chronic pain, illness, autoimmune conditions
Personal & Spiritual Growth: creativity, authenticity, heart connection, intuition, spiritual exploration, facing mortality
Relationships: communication, boundaries, codependency, inner child healing
Work & Purpose: procrastination, clarity, decision-making, creativity in business, resilience under pressure
Microdosing doesn't do the work for you. Rather, it can create space to notice old patterns, deepen your relationship with yourself, and support meaningful change over time. Every experience is different, which is why intention and integration matter.

There isn't one simple answer for how microdosing works, in part because there are different ways of understanding what healing is and how it happens. Western science tends to focus on changes in the brain, while many Indigenous traditions understand psychedelic medicines within a broader relationship between mind, body, community, and the natural world.
From a scientific perspective, psilocybin interacts with the serotonin system and may support neuroplasticity, helping the brain become more flexible and less fixed in familiar patterns. Psychedelics can also affect the default mode network (DMN), which plays a role in our sense of self and habitual ways of thinking. Together, these effects may help create more flexibility in how we think, feel, and respond to our experiences.
But the effects of microdosing aren't limited to what we can observe in the brain. People may notice changes in how they relate to their emotions, their bodies, their relationships, and the world around them. This broader understanding matters because healing doesn't happen in the brain alone. Microdosing can become a way of working with the whole person and the deeper patterns that shape their life.

Psychedelic medicines have traditionally been held within relationships of care, community, and guidance. Across many Indigenous traditions, healing is understood as something that happens in relationship rather than in isolation.
There is something profoundly healing about having your experience witnessed: having someone listen deeply, reflect back what you may not yet be able to see in yourself, and help you make sense of your experience.
Working with a guide offers:
Clarity & confidence — education around protocols, dosing considerations, and what to expect.
Intention — grounding your practice in what matters most to you, so your insights can be woven into everyday life.
Integration — a dedicated space to process experiences, emotions, and emerging patterns as they unfold.
Accountability — gentle encouragement to stay connected to your intentions and continue showing up for yourself.
Ultimately, my role isn't to tell you what your experience means. It's to support you in staying close to what emerges, knowing that healing and understanding can continue to unfold long after the experience itself.

While each person’s experience with intentional microdosing is unique, common outcomes include:
Gaining clarity on personal obstacles and potential solutions.
Recognizing and reducing behaviors rooted in limiting beliefs and past experiences.
Reframing life authentically, prioritizing self-truth over seeking external validation.
Reducing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and chronic stress.
Feeling more emotionally balanced, resilient, and present.
Improving focus, creativity, and mental clarity.
Relieving physical pain, inflammation, or other stress-related symptoms.
Deepening your sense of purpose, connection, and spiritual wellbeing.

Microdosing isn't a magic pill. While it may help you access greater awareness and clarity, healing asks something of us too. The most meaningful shifts tend to happen when we're willing to engage with what the medicine brings into view and allow that awareness to shape how we move through our lives.
Rather than numbing or suppressing difficult emotions, microdosing may bring them more fully into your awareness. While this can sometimes feel challenging, it's often where the deepest healing begins.

Many parents find that intentional microdosing helps them feel more present, patient, and grounded in the everyday moments of parenting. While every experience is unique, it may support you in:
Being more present with your child, even amidst the busyness of daily life.
Responding with greater patience and emotional awareness, rather than reacting on autopilot.
Navigating stress and overwhelm with more resilience and ease.
Deepening your connection with your child through more intentional communication and presence.
Microdosing won't make parenting effortless, but it may create more space to pause, reconnect with yourself, and show up as the parent you want to be.
-
Absolutely. Many people begin microdosing later in life and find it supports their wellbeing in meaningful ways.
Some people over 60 report feeling more mentally clear, emotionally balanced, and engaged in daily life. Others are drawn to the growing research exploring psilocybin's potential role in brain health, neuroplasticity, and healthy aging, though this research is still evolving.
As with any wellness practice, it's important to consider your overall health, medications, and personal circumstances. Microdosing isn't one-size-fits-all, which is why I take a personalized approach to help you determine whether it's an appropriate fit for you.

The legal status of psilocybin varies widely depending on where you live and, in some cases, the specific form of the medicine. While psilocybin remains prohibited in many countries, others have decriminalized it, permit certain forms or species, or allow access through regulated therapeutic, research, or religious frameworks.
For example, legal access exists in places such as the Netherlands (psilocybin truffles), Jamaica, parts of Australia, and in certain jurisdictions throughout North America, though the laws and regulations differ significantly.
Because psychedelic policy is evolving rapidly around the world, it's important to understand the laws where you live before beginning a microdosing practice.
